Introduction
Fitawrari Gebre Hiwot W/Hawariyat Secondary School (FGHWHS), founded in 2020 in Mehal Meda, Amhara Region, is a public, co-educational day school that delivers the Ethiopian national curriculum in English for Grades 9–12. The school was established to serve students from the North Shoa region who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and strong intellectual promise, creating an environment where high-performing learners can grow into future scholars and community leaders.
FGHWHS blends rigorous subject mastery with inquiry-based, project-centered learning. Laboratory work, independent research, and continuous assessment are central to instruction, cultivating critical thinking and real-world problem-solving skills. A 10:1 student–teacher ratio and a faculty composed of master’s-level educators enable close mentorship, individualized feedback, and thorough preparation for the Ethiopian University Entrance Examination (EUEE). As a result, FGHWHS students consistently rank among the top performers in the Amhara Region and matriculate to leading institutions such as Addis Ababa University and Bahir Dar University.
